Question How do you install mid controls 2013 Dyna Street Bob

I am going to install mid controls . I got a mid outter primary on ebay and most everything needed. Including service manual , bushings and seals, linkage and further forward foot peg mounts.

How can you install the Shifter lever without taking off the inner. If it would require removing clutch its probably above my ability. I am hoping there is a way. Could the shaft be removed and then refasten to the shift lever? Please tell me there is a way- lol . I see the shift lever advertised on ebay, so there must be a way to remove.

I also can feel the tower outlet on the back of the inner primary. Can I drill out the plug. How do I get the shifter shaft bushing in.

I am trying to avoid bringing the bike to the dealer, but if it gets to involved and above my ability may have to bite the bullet-- ugggg. Its very hard to get some one or even the dealer that has done this before.

Would also appreciate if some one would send me a complete list of what I need. I still can't find the spacer for the outside mid control shifter linkage.

Would appreciate all help. I do live in the San Jose area of California. Maybe there is some mechanic who has experience and done this before, especially if this get to involved. Would pay.

Roger

Hi,

This not difficult to do, just read manual then re-read it, go out and start taking things apart, just have a look around to familiarize yourself with parts etc you will need the 2 sockets for clutch

Its time consuming but an easy task, have to remove battery to loosen starter bolts as well
Thanks

Cree and Mir,
Thanks for the reply. If I had some one with me with experience at least with the clutch would attempt, but so far nothing. Will wait a week or two to see if something comes up.
If I do it , I want to do it right the first time. Hate to take it down a second time for some stupid , but important part I forgot or did not install correctly.
Hoping some one in my area would contact me.
Thanks,
Roger

It's really not terribly hard. Here's a thread I posted when I went from mids to fowards.

Cam and Brad,
Thanks for the reply. The thread you posted, including the parts numbers is quite helpful. I did not realize I needed an inner primary gasket kit. Will I also need the engine gasket 34934-06.
Thanks,
Roger
