Default Exhaust help....

I'm sure this is beating a dead horse on here. I just bought a 2012 Street Bob (my first Harley but not my first bike). It still has the stock system on it. I want a full system that has volume but isn't obnoxious. I wouldn't mind a performance increase but I definitely don't want to hurt it. I like the look of 2:2 as opposed to 2:1. My first choice, if cost were not an issue, are Rinehart Cossbacks. As far as 2:1 the only ones I like the look of are Thunderheaders. Most likely I'll end up with V&H short shots.

Keeping an eye on this. I have the stock as well. They sound great when you get the rpms up.. but while you're putting or stopped, it could be a little more throaty and maybe a tad louder. I just don't want it to get too much louder opening it up as it sound fine in that area.

Can't beat the short shots for the price imo. I don't find them to be too loud.

Listen to a bunch...look at a bunch, listen some more, talk to some peeps that have 'em when you see 'em, factor the costs...and pick what you want.

Don't go by what other people like, go by what YOU like.

Short shots probably fall into that "obnoxious" category. The longer the pipe, the more tone you can get out of it. I agree with you about not being a fan of the 2-1 pipes. You're not losng out on enough power to make me change my mind about those.

Take your time and look around. Exhaust is expensive. I'd try to go to some meet ups and hear what sounds the best to you.
