Default Need Help Going Down Memory Lane

Here's my old Super Glide

And here's the new one

Here's my Harley at work when I was a young man, a 1976 AMF Shovel with my son aboard during my lunch break. He became a rider as well, I wonder why?

So there it is, I need your help, expertise and old stock parts if you're willing to trade for some shiny chrome stuff. Thanks for taking the time to read all this.

All you need is a bucket full of mud and you'll almost be back to where you started!

Great story!! Great find! Really like the Pro Pipe(?) exhaust May I ask how much you paid for the "like new" 2002?
As for the belt guards, why not paint them black?
The other stuff, classifieds on this and other HD forums or ebay.
Keep posting!

I paid him 6500.00 (what he was asking) and was pleased to do it. I'm sure there are some folks who say "that's too much" but it wasn't for me.

Push come to shove I will have the upper belt guard powder coated black but the lower belt guard and side covers aren't close to what the stock items were. It is a Pro Pipe and the carb was rejetted, it runs well. I won't change that at all.

Just a little update on my project Dyna. I removed a fair amount of non-stock chrome parts the previous owner put on. Now I have to make a WTB/WTT thread to see what stock parts I can trade the chrome for. I'll give him this; he didn't skimp, it just isn't me. I got an HD quarter fairing off CL for 120 bucks and a set of 03 cast wheels off a Low Rider for a few hundred more. The plan is to take the fairing to the painter on Tuesday and have it done in Luxury Rich Blue to match the bike. I'm gonna strip the gold off the cast wheels with some Citrus Strip and probably just put some wax or something on the aluminum to keep it from weathering. The stock wheels on my old bike were painted silver so I may do that or just leave the aluminum.

I'm going to order a set of HD hard (leather look) locking saddle bags. After that, I'll look into upgrading the front & rear suspension. Finally, do the oil pump cam chain tensioner upgrade and call it good.
