Default wiring help for Light duty momentary switch

hi all, I bought a new 3 switch block from arlen ness (switch block for retro hand control) . It has three switches and each has two light duty wires.
Now i am trying to wire my start switch and my kill switch to this block and i am having trouble.
this is for 1985 fxr, here is a link for the wiring diagram (very similar eventhough it is an older diagram) :
http://roadrunner.pagesperso-orange....1980-83FXR.gif
and also attached a wiring i was thinking of, but i have a feeling something is wrong in it:
in it i am trying to use two relays one for the start and one for the kill button, the problem i am not sure of is how to wire the wire that connects to both switches through the relay.
The 1985 fxr has momentary switch for the start, but had an ON OFF switch (dont know the terminology for it) for the engine kill.

Any help is much appreciated.

Layth

can't really make out your diagram, but consider.

Kill switch can be wired to the ignition coil, switch off, no spark. ( it's single pole, single throw switch)

Starter to relay like you have, then solenoid.

you could replace all that with the solenoid end cover with the manual plunger.
No switch, no replay, no wiring if you are doing a custom, this makes simple, tidy, reliable.
Keep the kill switch on the bars, just in case you have a stuck throttle or something surprising

something like this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=390249171285

not my auction, read the text, go look at the catalogs to see if better quality is available etc, etc.

this idea is great for a custom bike.

unless i'm missing something.. why would you want a 2nd relay for kill purposes? Simply tie the kill switch to the ignition coil as mkguitar suggested.

As for the wiring of the starter relay;

one side of momentary switch to ignition/switched circuit and the other to pin 85 of the relay
tie pin 87 to ignition as well (fuse this link 15A should suffice)
tie pin 30 to the input on your starter solenoid
tie pin 86 to grd

hope that helps...

i really dont understand how i can wire the kill switch to ignition directly since it is a momentary switch that is normally open, it would only close the circuit if i press the button. wouldnt that mean that there will be no power to the coil unless i press the button!! that is why i was thinking of a relay that is normally closed.
from what i see in the wiring diagram white wire from kill switch to coil, gray wire from ignition to kill switch, so when the circuit is on there is power to the coil which is fine with a non momentary kill switch. Am i getting this wrong.

mkguitar so that is kind of like a latch relay in a way, but right at the starter solenoid.

1.) the momentary switch ( if used) is for the starter

Kill/ run switch is not momentary, it is a single pole, single throw switch ( meaning the switch controls 1 circuit, and it's either connected ( on) or not ( off).

Look at that wiring diagram and you will see how it connects to the coil.

2.) no it is not a latch relay---- it is a manual plunger- you push on the end cover, the plunger contacts the battery HOT cable contact to the contact for the starter windings.

this is exactly what the solenoid does, but your hand moves the plunger, not the solenoid -which incorporates an energised coil to move the plunger.
So you need no starter button, relay or wiring to the handlebars.
