Got a big problem here, can you help me out?

I had just got home from work, and was fixing to put my bike in the garage.
Turned on the main switch, all is good. Flipped the ENGINE RUN switch to "ON", all is good. Hit the "START" switch, and the starter engaged for a split-second, and then EVERYTHING went dead. The battery is 100%, and I couldn't find a blown fuse in the main fuse block. I don't have a "scanalyzer", but I do have a service manual. I am at a dead-end. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Update:
On a whim, I turned the main switch to "accessory", and the speedo lit up. Also made that whirring sound (not the fuel injection whine). I pressed a turn signal button, and the speedo light dimmed. Not sure if this is indicative of anything, just a little more information.
Thanks, guys!
