My Security System Disables Car Remote Controls Up To 40 Metres Away!
People where I work were complaining of difficulties accessing their cars in the car park due to their remote controls not working - but only at work - they were fine elsewhere.
I stayed back late one night and was one of the last two to leave, the other guy could not start his car, we diagnosed my 2002 FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic as the culprit.
I retro-fitted the factory security system 3 years ago (which the bike was pre-wired for).
I do automotive electrical diagnostic authoring for a living, so the pressure was on!
The short answer - the Smart Siren must have absorbed some water through the circular sounder, and shorted internally (I ride this bike in the wet and sometimes it's very wet here).
It then transmitted the transceiver frequency with enough power to cause trouble up to 40 metres away!
This included immobilizing Land Rovers which had to be pushed down the street before they could be started....
I would not have believed this possible, but the facts are in.
