Default High and low beams both on using HD LED headlight?

Hi All,
If I'm going to flip the high beam switch then I need as much light as possible. I was curious if I could wire up a relay that would allow both high/low beam to be activated. Any ideas or is this a recipe for disaster?
Thanks,
J.

I recently installed the HD dual halogen headlight and added the fuel moto LED's. Much to my surprise when I hit the highs both bulbs were active.

J,

What are you riding?

If you own a Rushmore series the odds are good all you need is the dealer to reprogram the lights. My driving lamps now operate whether I use brights or dims now.

Your question has been asked and answered many times around HDF. Yes you can wire them up to operate together, but tell us what year and model your bike is.

I posted this question accidentally in the Rushmore forum, Seems they can do this with just a flash from the dealer. Then searched this one for an answer with no luck.

I have one of the old style Daymakers, Got it in 2010.That would be the reflector type correct? They have got me wanting to have the low beam on with the high also. I know it don't draw as much current as a Halo, but it does get pretty hot. If I add a relay from the empty switch on the dash and power direct from the battery, I would be able to turn on the low beam while high is on from that switch right? Or wire the high beam to the switch to light up with the low beams? Then what would happen when switching the beam with the High/Low switch? Would it be getting too much voltage if the other switch was left on? If someone smart enough to draw a simple diagram of the correct way to wire it up and could post it, That would be greatly appreciated. Bike is a 2010 Street Glide.

Im thinking heat will be too much and you will see a short service life.

Resurrecting an old thread but it looks exactly on the topic of my question.

On my 2020 FLHTP the OEM headlight is the P/N 67700060 H-D Daymaker LED light. As currently set up the low beam works on low and then goes off and the high beam element illuminates when you switch to high beams. I would like both high and low elements to illuminate when I activate the high beam. Is there a programming change that can make this happen? I've been given conflicting answers. The latest was from a dealer who says there is no setting in the BCM system to make this happen.
Custom Dynamics makes an adapter for their lights [LINK] that will make this happen but if its just a computer switch to activate that would be a cleaner install than having an additional adapter.

extremely easy to do with a diode.
on the high beam feed, install a diode that will feed power to the low feed. when lows are on, the diode blocks current to the high. when high is on, power is sent to the low side. CHEAP, only a couple of bucks, just size the diode for the amps needed.

As mentioned you are going to be adding a LOT of HEAT to that housing and to all the wiring and Head unit in the Fairing. With bought Hi and LO on you will also be adding a higher LOAD / Current to that circuit (wiring and fuse).
Get the wiring digram for your bike, look up the current draw (wattage) for your headlight HI beam and the LO beam, What is the AMP rating for the fuse?
