Default H-D Garage Door Opener for 2016 Road Glide

I picked up an H-D Garage Door opener and am having trouble with the installation instructions.
Now I know there are a few other types of openers out there, but I'm not looking for suggestions for them.
I bought the additional harness that connects to the plug behind the left side cover. Got that done and routed up to the battery area.
I put the sticky tape on the transmitter and stuck it to the plate under the fairing.
The instruction say to connect the black wire (from the transmitter) to the black wire from the harness near the battery. The wires aren't long enough and there aren't any additional wires long enough to reach. I'm kinda lost at this point. Am I supposed to just provide my own wire for this, or am I trying to connect the wrong wires?
The instructions also say to connect the white wire of the transmitter to the white wire of the head lights and the same with the yellow wire. There are no white and yellow wires from the headlights and the yellow wire from the transmitter is actually yellow and white.
Now I have installed quite a few items into Harleys over the years, but this set of instructions beats them all for being vague, lousy pictures and probably missing steps.
Does anybody understand these instructions?

I'm seeing that people are reading but no responses yet.
I think I'm getting somewhere now. Ya have to really be payin attention to the instructions and being creative with work around techniques. They don't give you even a 1/2" excess wire in these kits, so ya have to figure out how they must have routed the wires in the engineering setup in order to get the wires to reach.
They provide additional ground wire, but it's about 5" to short to make the link between the transmitter and the connector back by the battery. Their finance department told engineering that 5 more inches would cut into their profit to much. The real troubling part is that they don't even tell ya that you'll need a few inches more wire to complete it. Probably got a good laugh out of it when they put the final instruction sheet together.
Did I mention that H-D technical instructions suck?

Harley instructions are written to make you run to the dealer for installation.

Try reading their heated grip instructions for example... it's painful.

Here's a post I made a while back about installing the opener on my Limited...

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/new-r...l#post14769379

You'll get lots of posts saying just to use a regular opener velcro'd somewhere.

Good luck with the install.

Yeah, I did the heated grips and those instructions were easy compared to the garage door opener.

I finished the install this evening. Once again, these instructions are written for the technician who has been shop trained and only needs the occasional reference. Not for the owner who only does this one time.
They would have to intentionally leave out important parts to make it difficult for the owner to do the install in hopes that the bike would end up in one of their shops to get the work done.

Congrats

Another thing I find with Harley instructions....

"covers all models of Sportster, Softail, Dyna, Touring, V-Rod, Sprint, mini-bikes, 2 stroke dirt bikes, electric bikes, bicycles, 1903-present"

That's why it's like 8 pages to tell you how to hook up 3 wires.

I've found that many times the instructions that come with the product isn't the latest version. Just today I was installing the security alarm siren on my '15 SGS with the siren just purchased yesterday from my dealership. The install instructions didn't cover my bike. I went online to the HD site for P&A and pulled up the siren description. One of the product tabs is install instructions. That proved to be the latest version and had the instructions for my bike.

I just finished wiring up my HD Garage Door opener this weekend and yeah the instructions are pretty (really) bad. Didn't help the fact I used the ones I downloaded from HD's website and they happened to be printed in 2010 and I have a 2016 48! I kept wondering why it was talking about 4 wires being hooked up and I only had 3!!
