My voltage meter shows charging at 15 volts when it's charging. Lately it's been jumping from 12 volts to 15 volts. Last week it stopped charging all together for about an hour while I was riding and my battery was down to 8 volts. I stopped at a garage to see if I could put it on a charger for the nite. While at the garage for a half HR I attempted to start it and it started and it started and was charging at 15 volts again, like it had to cool down or something. I ride for 4 hrs that day with no issues. I got home, changed the battery but it is still doing the no charge to 15 volt charge thing. So.... I changed the voltage regulator and it's still charging at 15 volts when it's charging and still bouncing between 12 and 15 volts on occasion or not charging at all. Stator???!!!

Check all wiring connections. Especially all ground wires.
Then i'd be looking at the stator.
