Welcome to the forum from Utah.

When you turn the Ignition switch on the fuel pump should run for 2 seconds. Have you checked fuses? The fuel pump fuse or ECM fuse could cause the problem.

I checked them both and are good, but could it be the pump?

Others will chime in, but how did you check your fuse?
You said you checked them both. What fuses did you check?

If you haven't done this yet, pull every fuse, check them with a meter, clean them, clean the sockets as best you can, put some dielectric grease on them, then put them back. They will build up oxidation over time, and this should be done periodically.

Then check for any codes.

I recently had an issue with a fried ECM, don't freak out yet though, I'm sure this won't be your problem. But I did learn a lot about this circuit. It includes the run/stop switch on the handle bar, the main fuse, the ECM and fuel pump fuses and the system relay. All those things should be checked, but I would start with the basics first. Is the run/stop switch in the run position? Check for codes. If it's the original battery make sure it's fully charged and have it load tested. Check both ends of both battery cables and frame grounds.
Hopefully that was helpful, good luck.
Matt.

This is one of the threads I had going, a lot of it might not apply to you but there are some wiring diagrams that may be useful. Unfortunately they are not for your exact year model but the basics should still be similar. You should invest in a workshop manual and a multimeter.

IKnowNot has some good adviceabout checking fuses and codes.

If the bike is cranking with the start button then your kill switch should be ok.

If you don't have a meter and your headlamp and lights work swap them with the Fuel Pump and Ecm fuses, all are 15A.

Here are schematics for your bike. Do you have a meter and know how to check voltage, continuity and resistance?

Ok good point Bill, I guess I didn't learn as much as I thought-talk about basics!!!
Think I'll stand back and let the pro's handle it!!
Just trying to give something back to a forum I've taken so much from!!

I think you did a great job working out your problem If Rambo doesn't find a bad fuse he will need to trouble shoot much the same way you did. Swap relays to see if there is a problem with the system relay, check for voltage at that relay base on the B/W and BL wires.

We have a few inches of snow on the ground and 28 degrees F. Winters starting with a punch.
