Default Tail light lens replacement?

I bought a new blue dot tail light lens, because mine is cracked. Today I went to replace it and unscrewed the two screws. The whole assembly came off? I tried to separate the old lens but it would not come apart. Iso this glued or just stuck due to age? Has anyone replaced their lens?
Thanks

It's a 2001 fxdl, low rider. The one that's on there now is cracked and has condensation in it, and the small drill hole I put in the bottom didn't help

If it is the OEM tail light assembly, the lens will separate from the base.

It is an OEM light. I can't tell from the diagram if part four is the base or the clear piece that is in the lens itself?

Thank you for the link.. so it looks like the lens has a almost sealed look. How do you separate that part from the inside from the outside?

IF it is OEM, you should be able to gently rock the lens off the base once you remove the two screws holding it on. You may have to pry it and since you are replacing it anyway, I wouldn't worry about breaking the lens. The lamp harness in the lens disconnects from the printed connector board in the base and the base stays mounted to the fender.

OP, I think you have the wrong lens if yours doesn't have a hole for the bulb to plug into.
