Import Mulfunction Speedo/Tach/... anyone done this?
With all due respect to the search-first protocol, I arrogantly started my own thread. Feel free to rip on me (and hopefully refer me to threads that demonstrate the error of my ways.)

Out of curiosity, based on the recently dramatically reduced price, I purchased an Asian-manu'd gauge cluster that is purportedly wired to encompass damn-near-all functions: Speedo, Odo, Tach, Gear Indicator, Neutral Indicator, Fuel Level, Directional, Hi/Low...I may be missing or have added functions...
Here's the unit:
52mm Universal Motorcycle Digital Odometer KM/H Speedometer Gauge LED Backlight
I paid $23 incl shipping. Figured wth, just to see.
Bike is still a 2000 FLHRI, btw.
Now: I know damn well right out the gate I'm not getting a gear indicator without some serious effort that most likely won't be worth the effort. NOT a concern. I'm not racing and mis-shifts are a rarity for me. So...don't anyone get caught up in that whole hoo-haa. Forget gear indicator. I already looked into it, and see zero necessity whatsoever.
That said...a cheap-*** multi-function all-in-one gauge appeals to my (possibly, likely unhealthy) desire for streamlining.
I am comfortable with wiring connections and would look toward making an adapter (probably have to redo the connections it came with since I doubt they're a US standard) so as not to make permanent mods to the OEM connections.
Adapting the unit itself to the OEM housing may be an issue, and...I've babbled on enough as is, so:
Anyone messed with one of these?
