Default Spedo Jumping, Motor Coughing

Hello all....I have a 2009 FXDC with 16K miles on it. I've had intermittent problems with the motor bucking. When this happens the speedo jumps all over the place. I was on the highway recently doing about 70 when it started bucking and the speedo dropped down to 20 and then came back up again. I got home and ran the diagnostics and got ECM code B1006 under SP. I cleared the code, ran it again, and it didn't come back up. I went for a ride after that and everything was fine. I'm just wondering if I'm out of the woods here or if further attention is needed. A friend who is somewhat knowledgeable said I should replace the voltage regulator but I hate to just do that without looking into it a bit. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you're losing voltage, either do to a loose connection, bad regulator or short. You'll have to find it before you wind-up stranded somewhere.

B1006 is "over voltage". My guess would be your regulator, but I would do a full charging system diagnostic before throwing parts at it. Check all connections first, then do a full diagnostic. See the diagnostic sticky for help.
