Lost Spark 97 WideGlide
Hello All.
Im looking for some help. I have a 97 Wideglide that is a continual project! This past spring the original 80in was gone through top to bottom and bored .030. Wiseco pistons, pushrods, lumpy cam, etc... Here's my problem. I've put about 6kmiles on it and now have an intermittent spark issue. It happens after about 30miles on the highway. Engine cuts out and won't fire again until it cools down, approx 30minutes. I have checked spark after the coil and it indeed loses it. I have replaced the coil, checked the coil wiring, everything looked good. Started right up, rode it again and sure enough same deal. My builder thinkks it's the Ignition module overheating and shutting down. It has a Crane hi-4 in it. As we know this module is sitting at about $250, so I've been having a hard time replacing it this late in the season. I'm not sure if it is that or not? What about the voltage regulator? And. Has anyone changed over to the single fire ignition? If i'm putting the money into the hi-4 would it make more sense to not keep wasting a spark with the dual fire set up? Any help is greatly appreciated
