Default Removing fuel guage - 2010 Heritage

Folks, I have installed the new Speedo tach combo, which has a fuel gauge.

I dont want or need 2 fuel gauges, so I'm installing a dummy fuel gauge from Drag.

Disconnecting the stock fuel gauge has cause the console fuel gauge to read empty and display a "LOW RNG" message.

Talked to the dealer, the believe the wiring circuit needs to be terminated in some way, but weren't sure if it would work. They suggested connecting the yellow and orange wires that come out of the fuel pump under the tank that gets connected to the stock gauge in order to close the loop.

This will yield one of the following possible outcomes. Please give me your opinions as to which one you think is most likely.

#1 - it will work - the console fuel gauge will display correctly
#2 - it will NOT work - the console fuel gauge will always display a full tank
#3 - it will blow a fuse.

Actually, it wont work. Parts manager at the dealer contacted their HD technical rep, apparently the fuel gauge on the speedo needs to read the resistance generated by the normal gauge.

So I'm getting the HD flush-mount setup.
