Default aux battery question

I need to wire an aux battery to provide 12v power to my CPAP machine... i was thinking that i could wire a cigarette lighter plug to the aux battery, put it in the tour pack and plug it into the 12v cigarette power plug to charge the battery, and be able to disconnect it quickly for use by using this method... i realize that the best practice would to be to connect it with a battery isolator, and install new wiring, but wondered if this could work as a quick fix when i needed the aux battery... since the battery would be connected in parallel, it would charge when connected while i was riding... i know that i would need to disconnect it when i was not running the engine... has any one tried this, or have an opinion as to whether it would work or not?
