Have to push brake pedal HARD for brake light to work.
I've been searching. Can't come up with the magic word combo...
Just like the title says. I have to push the rear brake to the point of lock up to get the brake light to illuminate. Any ideas?
Oh, 94 Dyna.
Thank you

How good are your break pads I had to push mine pretty far before on my 93 till the light would come on then I replaced the break pads and it fixed it

Pads aren't controlling the light...it's your switch or relay. Take a close look at rear brake assembly...Some thing's amiss...

The switch is also controlled off pressure if the pads are almost gone it's not creating enough so it does effect it

Thank you,
I guess I was thinking that if it were the switch it would either work or it wouldn't. The brake pads are good.
I think I'm just going to,order the switch, change it, bleed, and see if that takes care of it.

Change the fluid while you're at it....Brake fluid changes are widely ignored and are absolutely essential to proper brake system operation.
Usually when a brake light switch fails, it's because the fluid is dirty and the dirt gets in and fouls the switch.

For cryin out loud...If you don`t know what you are talking about, don`t argue the subject.
It is a simple system and not hard to understand, but obviously you don`t.
The brake pads have absolutely nothing to do with the operation of the switch.
It is a simple pressure switch, designed to close the circuit at a certain pressure.
The switch is bad.

Thanks again everyone. I have a new switch on the way. I also ordered a MC cover seal and fluid. I was planning a fluid change at the same time.
