T-man cams
|
Have decided to use T-man 590 or 625 in a 98" 05 bagger build, 48mmTB, stage II heads, FatCat quiet, tts mastertune. Looking for tq to come on as early and strong as possible, don't often get over 4000/4500rpm. Anyone using either of these? any opinions or suggestions??

great cams
val how much compression are you going to put on the 590?
the 590 is right in the middle of the woods tw6hg and the tw8 which are both great cams for power and tq. in a 98 in motor go with the 590 at about 10.5 compressionn and you will be great.
if you want you can go with the 625 it it the big brother of the 590 same compression or a tad more .
if you want the tq earlier go with the 590 tho.

planning to set comp at 10.5, goal is to get to 100tq by 2500rpm. Can't find to many dyno runs with the 590 so not sure what to expect, talked to T-Man and his advice was to use the 625 at 10.5 but I am inclined to use the 590.

Hey George
Been talking to Dave about trying a T-Man cam, the 590 and 625 were on our list. I'm also looking for tq as strong and early as possible, so maybe the 590 is the best choice.

I've seen the 590 in 10.5:1 98" builds (as well as bigger) and it's a nice cam. It does make good torque early.
I'd be surprised to hear the TR recommended the 625 over the 590 for a Bagger in the above mentioned config. Is there something else missing form the conversation?

with his heads (t-man) run a slightly bigger valve. now i am not too sure whose heads you are going with??
i am guessing hillside with his stg 2 . thats why i suggested the 590.
T-man runs the 625 with his heads on baggers with no issues remember slightly bigger valve and his heads are set up specifically for his cams. the 625 seems to be the cam of choice . i like the 590 just because of its character. the 625 is its big brother and i know JD's will have some dyno sheets available once build season comes he has em lined up already. with some very interesting builds and combos hes putting together.
most of the combos are baisley heads and the t-man cams being of the 590 and 625 variety.
set up for reliability and dependability.
if you were going with the baisley heads like beaureed has i would of suggested the 625
baisley heads super stock heads i would stick with the 590.
alls i know is this either cam you go with you will gett 100 tq by 2500 the 625 set at 10.5 will pull out further. you said you dont do much riding above 4500 rpm. thats also why i said the 590.
but i will tell you this if you do go with the 625 i have a feeling you will be winding that motor up a lot more over 4500

phil he runs a slightly bigger valve in his heads set up for his cams. so t likes to go a little bigger with the cam.
remember even if you get the heads set up for the 625 you can run the 590 and change over later if ya think you need more later . but i dont think you will.

As George said, I am running Baisley Super Stock Heads and TMan 590 cams. My heads are set up a little different than the "normal" ones (we used SE Heads, not stock). Usually, he uses 1.90 intake and 1.58 exhaust. In my application, he used 1.94, 1.63.....this may not make a difference at the end of the day (I'm not a builder). I've got that paired up with an HPI 55mm t/b, making 107/107 in a 103" Softail. I went with a larger t/b because I'm going to tear it all apart this winter and turn it into a 113". Dave already has my cylinders/pistons, and we're waiting for Darkhorse to finish working their magic on a crank.
