Do I need roller rockers for my build?

Hi everyone, " Do I need roller rockers for my build? " I recently had to rebuild my build, if you catch my drift. The mistakes were made by me, just to clear the air. Any way this is what I've got. 1) 95" twin cam 2) 10.4:1 compression 3) ported heads with over 180+ PSI valve seat spring pressure. 1.90" intake valve/ 1.63" exhaust 4) cams .580/.530 lift. 5) stock lifters If anything else is relevent to this question, please let me know. I'm kind of an idiot. thanks

roller rockers are easier on the valve train,but for the lift your running you dont need them,but they wouldt hurt anything either(really would be no noticable hp gain)

thanks. I'm mostly looking for engine top end life. Since I rebuilt, I haven't put the lid on the top end and wanted to wait and ask some questions before I just put the stock rockers back on. The stock rockers have 30,000 miles on them. might be a good time to upgrade now.

I would. Personally, I'd run rollers on anything over about .575 lift, so you're right on the fence. Since you haven't buttoned up the top end yet, it probably wouldn't hurt to go ahead and do it (other than spending the $$$).

I ran stock rockers with my HQ-0039's w/o any issues whatsoever. Ask Doug what he recommends with that cam.... "Stock is just fine, but if you wanna spend $$, he'll sell ya some".

Food for thought, is that Harley now offers 1.725 non-rollers for on the cheap. I believe they are under 200.00.
Those will make your engine think that you changed the cam, and if the OE hammers have shown good service for the past 30,000, give 'em a whirl.

if you go with the 1.7`s,make sure you double check your valve to valve & valve to piston clearances,both will increase.measure your tappet lift and muliply by 1.7(that will give you actual cam lift)

I don't understand all that ratio stuff and how it effects the actual lift on the valve end. I won't have any issues with the valve/piston clearance. I won't have issues with the valve/valve clearance either. I've checked that. I know that my motor is breathing very well already from the last build at 1.625 ratio. Am I really going to gain all that much going to 1.7?

PS...my brother is sending me some stock rockers with 9000 miles on them on Friday. I'm going to inspect them and compare them to my 30,000 mile rockers.

I'm still considering the rollers though.

Rollers are overkill for anything less than .600 lift IMO.

Running the HQ 575 with stock rockers for 35k miles now without issues .
