Right, the shim kicks up the pressure, nothing else.
We just installed one of those Drag pumps.
Gears are much different than those of an HD pump, and really looks like a very good unit, and for the price, I believe they are a home run.

Don't want to "knock on wood",but I'm happy to report I just fired it up........no tick/can of marbles.Had an awful noise that CONCERNED me,but it was the lift table rattleing. It's still raining but hopefully in the morning I'll ride it to work for a shake down.Just wanted to thank you guys for answering my dumb questions,as I've never "been in" a TC.

So am4wag, sorry must have missed it somewhere. What exactly did you do to get rid of the can of marbles? I have a '99 Ultra with 42K and just replaced my tensioners, new plate, bearings, etc... And now also have more top end racket then before the work was done. Pulled off the top end to take a look and all appears ok. Took it by the shop for a listening to and was told it was ok as well. Engine runs and pulls strong. Donno?

Leaning heavily to just doing a cam. Probably going to trade in a couple of years so don't want to sink too much $$ in her. Was looking at Andrews cams. Haven't made a choice but thanks for the ideas!
