Just for reference, the 48 is the non-emmissons version of the 255.
The 48 is a good cam.

On the Andrews spec sheet, the 57's seem rated for a slightly higher RPM range than the 48's. Is that pretty much the whole story or are there any other notable differences between the 2. I'm uneducated and new to this mechanical stuff but I thought this winter I might have the dealer drop a 57 into my 2014 BO 103 (5000 mi) looking for a peppier ride and better sound come spring. I'm assuming that "bolt in" means that I don't need to change out an array of other parts in order to swap my OEM cam for a 57.
Any/all comments appreciated. Thanx. ,,,, "well maybe not ALL"

The power curve for the 57 will be a bit to the right of the curve for the 48, so you decide which power curve best fits your riding style. You are correct on "bolt in" with one exception. Depending on the base circle of the chosen cam, it may be advisable to go with adjustable pushrods in lieu of stock. I don't recall the base circle of either of the aforementioned cams but some cam manufacturers reduce the base circle on higher lift cams; check it out.

I called Bob Wood and asked about the same questions you have and he suggested I purchase his TW-555 cams. I also asked Jamie Long at Fuel Moto and was directed to a toque and HP graph for the TW-555's available online at Fuel Moto
Bottom Line I installed the Woods TW-555's in my '13 Limited with stock heads valves and springs and I am very happy with the results. If I get the published curve i will be leaving my buddies stock 110 CVO above 3k RPM next year.
