His bike is making a great sound, it's got that nice snappy exhaust noote. Is it the compression and cam that would give me that sound, or is that only acquired by headwork?

compression, really not a good idea to build a motor for a certain "sound",build it for performance and a high performance sound will happen

Most all the time our engines do not really sound "cammed" as that is what I believe is a result of over-camming, which is a thing that a lot of folks do, and/or not enough compression to build the cylinder pressure needed to support the cam.

Exactly! Most just don't "get it". I like the sound of a "hot rod" motor as much as anyone but come on, selecting a cam because it will sound "hot", really!! Most would be much better off if they picked a cam and then backed it down a notch. Or just take the advice of the professional sponsors that do this every day.

i ran 585's in 95" and now 103" (gear drive ) and have plenty low end power. a 107" should have even more.

Exactly Kirby built this engine after talking with Scott and Reggie at R&R had all ready purchase the 585's and both suggested the 1.725 rockers in intake side only and to run it close to 11.1 with a good flowing heads and bigger TB it was all planned out I just got lucky it sounds great and runs very strong

Visited the engine builder today and after talking with him I am having serious doubts about having the kit installed. This has all to do with the longevity of the standard Harley crank. As for the 585 cam vs. the 570 cam, the 585 would be more of a HP cam and the 570 more of a TQ cam.

So probably going for a cam only now in my 96" motor and leaning towards the Fueling 574.
