Default 1998 Road Kind Rear Cylinder Head Bolt Removal

I have a 1998 RK with EFI. I am trying to freshen up the top end, since there's oil leaks in several places. I have the front jug all torn down, but the rear jug has me in a bind. One bolt for the head is so long, it hits the frame, no matter what I do. I have a manual, which doesn't address this. I've also seemingly searched to the end of the internet. Please help! How do I get this last bolt out other than removing the motor? Thanks!

There is some vertical and horizontal flexibility in the motor mounts and a 2x4 placed in the right place for leverage will most likely move the motor to you can pull that head bolt out.

Release the exhaust support from rear pipe at transmission triangle area. Loosen the slip on. Muffler rear supports. Release top engine support.Remove the front motor mount while still maintaining some engine support with a floor jack. The engine will lean foward and give more space.

Thank you for the replies. I should have elaborated a bit more...I have the exhaust system completely removed. I have the front motor mount loose, and the top mount removed and have tried the prying method, although lightly. I'm pretty good at breaking sh!# . I'll give it another go, while removing the front motor mount with a bigger 2x4 then. Please keep replies coming! I'll post once I slay this Dragon.

Did the stud come out with the head bolt?
if not, with the other three head bolts out, can't you just hold the head bolt up and lift the head off?

I got it guys, thanks to you. The prying method wasn't working because I just couldn't get the leverage. So, I wrapped a small ratcheting strap around the front mount and pulled it over. Easy as apple pie. Thanks again guys. Talk to you on the rebuild!

Just a suggestion. When you are ready to torque down the front mount, leave it loose, start up and let the engine idle for a bit. This will "center" the mount where it wants to be. Shut down and then torque the front mount.

Thanks DJL, that's something that, I'm guessing, isn't in the book. I appreciate your post!
