Default S&S MR103, Andrews 57H, Woods 222, Woods 555, SE204...which one?

Greetings,

I've started researching cams, and maybe I'm very wrong, but in looking at dyno charts, to me all these cams are sort of in the same ball park.

Am I blind? What am I missing?

It seems all these cams produce more power than stock, have a power peak in the upper rev range and produce 90+hp / 105+ ft/lbs on a stock 103 engine with Stage 1.

How do you decide which one?

Default carap shoot

The 57 and the 555 do require a little more comp to make them come alive with the latter closing intake but the other three just come down to preference. I'm kinda partial to woods cams I like the way the intake and exhaust durations are closer together not creating extra scavenging from the wider duration of the exhaust like on the mr103 but yet maintain a decent amount of lift unlike the se 204. They truly do carry throughout the entire curve. Take a look at knight Prowlers cams aka woods cams dyno section and you'll see what I mean..

Those 57's really seem to run well at 9.9/10.0 cr with a decent set of heads, but all will work.

For my riding habits the Woods 222 work perfect. Great low end torque ..!

If you are staying with stock compression, the 222 is a nice cam, making most of its torque between 2000-4000 rpm

Just always remember, that while there may be Magic Beans, there are no magic cams.

What makes your exhaust choice poor? Can you elaborate?
