Sportster build??????
Bottom line, I need to have a "go fast" bike. I love my softail and with andrews 48's in an otherwise stock 96" it runs great for a daily ride. I still have a 99 883 sportster in the garage that is a great candidate for a top end. I have owned a few sportsters in the past and my favorite was a 99" that was build in 2002. It was S&S wheels and Axtell cylinders that netted 99", zippers cams, ported S&S heads, super G carb and crane ingition. It was a HELL of a runner, until it was stolen in 2004.......
SO, I am looking into another good running sporty. Should I stick with a 1200 or bigger. I know S&S is making wheels and cylinders that can open up to 103", but how would the dependability be? Anyone out there with a big inch sportster?

Holy $hit! How big of wheels are in that case? Last time I messed with a sporty case (91 and up evo) the largest bore you could use was 3 13/16" with 4 5/16" wheels. I guess a few things have changed.

So you can squeeze 5" wheels in a sportster case? How far can you open the spigots before you run into an issue with the oil galleys?

It seems like 1250s, 88s and 90 inch builds are the thing today. I think the stroker xl evo is out dated. Guys are making great power with the 3 I mentioned above. How much you looking to spend?
