Default Best bang for the buck single mod?

It never fails. You begin looking at customizing a bike (or anything for that matter), and you choose an option that will provide improvement, but it would be much better if you add something else with it.

What is the best singular mod one can make, assuming heavy breather, exhaust, and jetting have already been done?

Is it a performance carb? Big bore kit? Cams (gear or chain)? Ignition? Even lighter wheels/rotors? Do either of these make a noticeable difference by themselves, at least enough to justify the expense?

I swap the cams in all my bikes. It makes a big difference.

If your talkin a performance upgrade bang for the buck, without a doubt it would be a cam. Especially if you do it yourself....

Bigger crankshaft.

Won't be the easiest or the cheapest but it will give the biggest performance gain.

Most folks already have an exhaust and air filter upgrade, so the next move is ususlly a cam swap.
Just be aware that if you do all your perfarmance upgrades in a kit or package form, you'll only need to tune it once, and the rest of your time can be spent riding and enjoying your bike at that point.
