So, based on comparing your build list with the components listed in your signature, are we to assume that you are really asking for opinions of the tman 625 cams vs the 888 in your existing setup?

The 888 never tuned or ran right. For whatever reason(s) they're creating 220 ccp and Bob himself said 180-200 is normal. Most everyone agrees 220 is high and the problem may be the ECM is pulling timing (anti-knock) and causing the slow (lazy) power. Maybe the cams are installed wrong? When I go back in and either find the cams are off or their gears are pressed on wrong I want an idea of the direction to go.

625's like 10.5?
625's like SE CNC's?
58TB too much, not enough?
5.3 should be fine
FM 2/1/2 merge too small?
Rinehart louvered baffles too restrictive?

Really not much to compare between the 888 in that build as it never ran right or as my tuner stated "something is wrong" 3 times tuning the 888 cams.

The 625 would actually give you more dynamic compression than the 888 based on intake closing. And if you say you have a knock sensor retarding your timing I would think the 625 would ping more.. What's the cc of combustion chambers, head gasket thickness, piston dome cc?

Before spending more money or changing anything, I would confirm the 888's are installed correctly.

Start by pulling the push rods and measuring lift @ TDC, that would give a good indication if they are installed correctly. If you have the means I would degree them out and know for sure.

The 888's are good cams and should run great.

People said I was wasting my time when I went through the process of degreeing my 777's when I built my motor, but I had no doubts they were installed correctly.

I don't know.

I do know Bob Wood himself said my ccp should be 180-200. My tuner said about 196 (205 tops).

I am going to have RC Cycles verify everything and go from there. including degreeing the cams.

If both cylinders are equal/almost equal compression, the cams are not off.
When they are, it'll show you about 25-30 psi difference from one cylinder to the other.

I'm running the 625's and absolutely love em. They pull low to high.

Long as the rest of the motor Is matched to the Cam I'm sure It pulls great....key word match.... Everyone should always build around the cam....
