Anyone running 590 cams?
Try to keep this short.*
When I bought the bike I was told it had the 56mm TB. 259 cams. 10.5:1 compression pistons. Heavy springs and SE pushrods. When I found out it had the stock 50mm TB I began to question what else didn't it have. It pulls like a truck. Massive torque. I can feel that in the 103 over my last 96tc. That was dyno tuned with 2-1, AC and. PC5. It ran strong. 78hp. 86ft # torque. There's no way this is a stock 103.*
I took it to get a service (new house. No garage) hate that. I asked him to listen close to the primary and the top end. We chased the primary noise to the tesioner. Seemed to go away. But it's back. Doing the inner bearing next. While it's apart I'll look at the main shaft on the tranny see if there's any end play. He said the top end clatter was on the exhaust side mainly. So I called Battlefield HD where I bought it an dug into the sales manager a bit about the TB and said I need to know what if anything is done to this bike. I have a right to know. I know he can't show me the receipts from the original owner. Who bought it there and had them do all the work. So he talks to the mechanic. Than calls back.*
Stock TB
590 cams
Screaming Eagle heads. (Ever see them without the logo? ) mine don't have it.*
1000 miles on the new top end. 10.5:1 pistons
Heavy springs and SE push rods.*
Mechanic said it will be noisy with those cams. The push rods are black and adjustable. And the adjustment was fine.*
Love the bike. 40k I knew I'd find something. Even if it was all stock I'd have bought it. Let him know I'm not happy with being misled.*
So. Is a noisy valve train typical of this cams.*
Thanks.

Those specs are almost Identical to my woods cam and with proper adjustment on the pushrods you should be able to quiet it right down. They can be preloaded to .140" with no problem at all. 32 tpi pushrods will require 4 full turns and 3 flats and 24 tpi will require 3 full turns and 3 flats...

I run the 590s, definately more noise than stock but nothing that alarms me. They are fairly big cams for a 107" so extra overall noise does not seem crazy. A lot of people would recommend roller rockers at about .600" cam lift so the 590s are pretty close to that...
Definetly can sink the prs in a bit to help.

I have run the 590s in an all bore 107; very good cam if the compression is set right and valve train noise is not typically an issue with TMan's cams. Andrews grinds the cams for TMan and a couple of years back TMan had a batch of 590s that were ground wrong and the ramps were off; they made noise and I had one of those. If the cams are new, probably not the issue but if the cams were part of that bad batch, that could be the source of the valve train noise. I don't know how one can tell when the cams were ground but it might be worth looking into.

I would put some high performance(your brand choice) lifters in the bike and reset adjustable pushrods. Thats a lot to ask of stock lifters with increased spring pressure.
I used Woods lifters and they are as quiet as stock. S&S are supposed to be good also as well as gaterman and others....
