Default Gear Cams

Hey guys. Just curious if anyone out there has experienced gear whine with their gear cams?
I switched to woods 6g and I have quite a bit of whining. Not sure whats acceptable by most. It doesn't bother me too much. I'm just asking for others experiences. Reminds me of a supercharger on a diesel. Quiets down a little after hot. Like I said just asking for similar stories. Videos are a plus! I'll post one myself later.

2001 Flhtc with woods 6g.

Measure gear lash.you need to go to undersize gears (weather inner or outer will have to be determined by measuring the lash

Inner was done by hillside so I'm sure it's spot on. Outer pinion was just the s&s kit. So maybe it's too big.

No gear whine at all on my '00. (And that was just by luck.) I might argue that mine is as quiet as the chain set up they replaced 71,000 miles ago.

You should check & not assume the lash was checked on the inner gears.having the gears too tight will wear the gears out quick

Not uncommon to hear a bit of whine on those gear/gear cams.
One of my bikes is a 1967 FLH with it's gear train under the cam cover, has had a little whine since i bought that bike in 1980, warm or cold.
Never had any issues with that, as an example.

Below are the links to the video. Hopefully you guys can see them. Tried uploading to this page but they wouldn't come up.

This was this am 71 degrees out but cold motor. It does quiet down abit after running but still pretty loud. Just curious what your thoughts are. Thanks!

Yea the performance is great. Just noisy. Top end is silent almost better than stock. This is really my first major engine endeavor so I'm still working out all the normal sounds/ vibrations in my head.

What size pinion? How do you know? Do they even make different sizes? This whole build has been an awesome learning experience.

I run gears in my '05 Deuce and have a similar whine but not as prominent/loud as yours; I think it worth checking. Yes, there is an undersize pinion gear available.
