Default S&S 124 Oil Lines

If I understand correctly when you Install a 124 in a newer bagger you have to run external oil lines tapped into the trans housing. Has anyone ever heard of this causing problems from leaking or a drop in oil pressure during long corners due to placement? The thought of boring holes in the tranny and running oil lines next to the belt makes me nervous.

I just ordered a 124 from S&S and wasn't digging on the external oil lines. Mainly didn't think I was going to like the looks and wasn't wanting another opportunity for oil leakes. I just decided to order it with SE cases. It was only a $100 additional cost, but worth it to me for a direct bolt in. The machining and lefty bearing are part of the deal. Again totally worth the extra money for me. The cost of the jig for drilling the holes almost makes it the same in cost.

Good to know, I didn't think they could do that. Is everything else the same between motors? Let me know how it works for you.

Everything else is S&S, they just substitute the cases. HD has some patent on the oil routing in the cases so S&S had to change theirs a bit. The SE cases are provided by S&S and come with an MSO from HD\S&S. All you have to do is place your order with S&S and they build and ship it. Again, everything but the case is S&S. To me it just makes a cleaner install. Like I mentioned the jig to drill the holes pretty much eats up the $100 difference. Labor to drill if you are not doing it yourself??? For me, even if it was up to about $250 difference, I would probably do it just to not have the 2 external lines. Let me know and I can dig up the S&S part number if you need.

Default Even cheaper

Now that I think about it, it's actually cheaper since you don't have to purchase the actual "oil line kit" from S&S!

I ordered the hi compression (10.8) with the 640 cams, part number 310-0252 in wrinkle black.

How much it run you if you don't mind me asking? And will they convert the HD cases to Timkin instead of the SE lefty bearing?

TB has been sent to S&S already, 66mm Throttle Hog, have Dragos Dragula 2:1. Hoping to have it together in two weeks or so. Just have to wait for the TB to be returned and some ossa and ends. We will see what mess we can make!
