Default Softail Slim 117" build

Picked up build from shop the other day.

117 axtell cylinders
10.5:1 Pistons
190ccp
110 heads ported and polished
Woods tw8-6 cams
58mm se throttle body
4.9 injectors
Crank pinned,welded and balanced

Dyno chart shows 125hp and 131 tq. These are uncorrected #'s.
Pulls strong 3200rpm and up but seemed lazy to me down low so I sent it to Joe's cycle for him to tune in hopes he can wake it up a little.

Still pretty nice!

SAE numbers maybe around 118ish HP - 125ish TQ, give or take.

Still vast improvement vs a stock 110" numbers.

Congrats!

The Wood 8 would show it's teeth more, and increase low-mid power, at 200 psi ccp.
No fear at 200 as 110" CVO's come off the showroom floor between 205-207 psi ccp.

Life @3200 rpm is very typical of that cam....but will keep carrying to 6500 rpm or more without a blink.

I left it up to the builder. I told him how I like to ride and to build an engine to suit my needs.

The tuner won't help the low end really. It's a cam timing/compression issue. If you are unhappy with the lower end then first off the builder should have known 10.8 is that cams sweet spot or even 11.0.
Nevertheless it may not be bad enough to change anything, you may get either used to it or just keep the RPMs over 3k whenever you can.
Short of shaving some off the heads or swapping cams to one that suites 10.5 comp you are stuck with it. I do like the whole set up choices for a 117, just should be at 200 ccp as stated.

I will ride it the way it is for the summer. If I'm not satisfied at the end of the summer I will either change cams or bump the compression or both. Came this far and have invested way to much money to stop now.

Went to pick up the bike from Joe's cycle last Saturday after having it re-tuned. The initial run at Joe's cycle showed 117hp and 131tq. These #'s were lower than the engine builders uncorrected peak numbers. Joe's Dyno chart now shows 131hp and 143tq and 120tq @ 2000rpm. I know these are uncorrected #'s and I know of all the talk about his Dyno but that's a big difference. The torque curve is much improved between 2000 and 3200 rpm and that's what I was hoping for. So I'll ride it hard this summer and have some fun.
