TECH TIP - Cyco hyd tensioner shoe install

Default TECH TIP - Cyco hyd tensioner shoe install

APPLICABLE YEAR/MODELS
Any with the 2007-up version of the hydraulic cam chain tensioners.

1. Do what you need to do to remove the two hyd tensioners from the cam plate.

2. Pull the shoes from the tensioner bodies.

3. Follow these pics:

4. Reinstall the shoes into the tensioner bodies.

5. Reinstall the tensioners onto the cam plate.

6. Do what you need to do to reinstall the cam plate and other stuff.
DO NOT forget the oil pump alignment!

My question is, why were they replaced, the stock ones look pretty miles...Thanks for sharing though.

from the questions your asking,it would be a good idea to take the bike in to a shop

I don't think he's asking any questions on how to do but trying to show others how it's done.

It's a "how to". The original shoes were in pretty good shape but had about 50k miles on them. Since I was in there anyway I decided to replace them. The Cyco shoes are supposed to wear better than the HD according to an HD mechanic I trust.
