Yes brother .. I checked it But I had to add 3 more quarts in next 1800 miles.
Talked to a buddy at work that used to own a auto shop. He could totally see how being out of tune could blow a piston, firing at the wrong time. I'm not a wrench, but I trust him.

10-4 !! we have a 14 SG also ...bought it new ...about a 60 mile trip home...had to stop twice as it sounded like it was going to come apart ...over heating etc...!!!

as soon as i pulled up at the house , dropped all the fluids , which was so thin , looked like water running out ...

added some "real oil" ...has never sounded or run that hot sense !!!

good luck with the New Motor

Roughly $1000 in labor, and $2300+ in parts.
Not sure why they changed the oil pump assy and the oil pan assy... but what the hay... ESP paid for it.

Based on your description, most likely they only needed to install cylinder and piston kit. Add oil and couple gaskets.
Mechanics sometimes install parts "just in case". Most likely crank and oil pump didn't need to be replaced.
It is possible that they didn't replace crank and oil pump, but charged you. Did you ask for old parts back? Always do that and get old parts.

????

If it was paid for under an extended service plan, I don't think he can get the parts back. After all ESP paid for them..

It wouldn't surprise me if it needed a crank..

My guess is due to the piston/cyclinder issue, the were metal shavings in the engine. So I can understand replacing (under warranty).. But yes, not sure if it was needed or not if I had to pay for it.

Your rings are set within 20 miles. Doeswn't take 500 miles to break in an engine. They can do the break in on the dyno.
