Bad Piston, Losing Oil...
After getting the 10K done (never losing oil), took a Tenn/NC and a Colorado Trip. During that, had to add 3 quarts. Not leaking, so must be burning. Needed tires so took it in, told them about the oil issue, they found it running lean and plugs had crap all over it. I had worried I had a piston/ring problem. Sure enough they pulled the head and found the cylinder wallowed out in the middle. Replacing it/Piston/Flywheel under ESP. Hope to be as good as new !
Any idea what would cause that?
Thanks

Interesting.... The Tech said it was lean, put it on the tester and failed compression in the front cylinder. They had put the HD Tuner, Rineharts and decat 2 yrs ago. Ran great (and still does) but did notice idle was a little more rough. Guessing from the dirty plugs. Said the piston wasn't rider related so.. felt good ESP is covering it. Said I should bring it back after break-in for dyno.

Yes they tuned it (hopefully correctly). Will take back to dyno after the 500 mile break-in.
I can post the receipt. But I still have questions. The tech wasn't there today, so want to understand what they did. The receipt shows the parts breakdown, just have to add it up..
