Default 1997 cam cover removal


I was told that I can take off the cam cover with out removing the pushrods and cam could someone please tell me how this is done if it can't be done thank you

I wouldn't do that without eliminating the preload of the lifter.

Short answer, NO.

If you were turning your motor into a boat anchor, yeh you probably could wrestle it out, but you are not getting a new one back in for sure.

So what are you up to?

The gasket start dripping oil So basically this is all
just to change the gasket

If you have adjustable pushrods you can back them off and do it. If you have the oem pushrods, either you cut them out (bolt cutters) or you disassemble the rocker box's.

If it is all stock maybe you should think of a cam upgrade while you're in there....

And don't forget, get a factory service manual.....
