Yea but all together most builds (whether its the dealer, Hillside, or Prestige)parts and labor(including a dyno tune) runs about $3k-5K depending on the build. yea if I keep the heads stock I save $1000 but I would limit my cam selection.(No high lift) Honestly I would do it myself but its not a brake job or draining the oils. Its taking out pistons, cams, cylinders and a fuel tank and praying you don't break a bolt or put things on the wrong way even with a service manual which I have. I don't like towing my bike to a repair shop to have them say I told you so.

Are you talking installed or a kit? I did a FM 107 for a buddy last weekend. Complete kit with their level B heads , VP clutch upgrade and a power vision came in right at 3k for parts.

Kits run about $3k(pistons/cylinders/cams(w/ installation kit and adj. pushrods) + headwork. The shop installation and dyno runs about $2k. labor is $120/hour and dyno tune is around $400.

As a reference we charge $2199.00 for the complete 107 kit installed and professionally dyno tuned; turn key. Options include our CNC ported heads which run $879.00-995.00, you will need to upgrade the clutch with a heavy duty spring and/or lockup which runs $30.00-285.00, you need the appropriate EFI tuning product such as Dynojet Power Vision $399.00, and an exhaust and air cleaner that will support the appropriate Hp/Tq. We also offer a wide range of options for those looking for more horsepower or something different, with dozens of configurations from mild to wild. We can do the build in a day and a half, this includes a full dyno base evaluation, complete engine build, comprehensive dyno break in and professional dyno tune. The bike leaves turn key; ready to ride. Customers ride in or ship their bikes from all over the country, FM generally rolls out 3-4 bikes per week. Country Inn & Suites is just down the street from us and they offer a Fuel Moto group rate, we offer shuttle to/from the hotel as well.

There are assorted dyno charts of some of our builds here https://www.fuelmotousa.com/p-33193-dyno-charts.html

I can save about $500 from that $3000 by working with what I have, no kit; however, Fuel Moto does offer some slick packages as does Kirby, particularly his "specials". WRT the 124, I am pretty sure Kirby is talking built 124" motor. Customer pulls the motor and sends to Kirby; Kirby builds motor (note he referred to a "mild" 124) and returns the built motor to the customer. Customer installs motor and is responsible for upgrades such as exhaust, clutch, carb/throttle body, fuel management and tune.

I agree that 5k is on the high side. 3K-4K would be closer but when you figure in all the adders to the parts not provided in the kits like tuners, air cleaners, clutch, possible exhaust, Dyno, and somebody else's labor it adds up quick as far as most local builders go.

The kits are the way to go but like others said when it gets to the dyno the finger pointing can start and then it's not a good place to be.

Last time I shipped one (several years ago) it was about $650 to get it from Arizona to North Dakota
