Default Upgrade to 103 or 110

I want to punch my 08 96ci to a 103 or 110. I hear some cons about going to a 110 from a 96, SOME people says its pushing it a little for ,but people do it all them time. I would like to hear the pros and cons from people if some one could lighten things up for me. I sure would appreciate it .

Thank you.

The 103 you dont have to bore cases for it.The 110 you do,so why not go bigger if you have to bore cases?? Your bike has the 4.375 crank so why not bore cases for the 117?? The cost is close to being the same.Your going to need new cylinders for the 110 & 117,so the cost is the same there;Boring the cases would cost the same. You will need new throttle body with both; The 110(you probably could bore your stock one out) ,& the 117 you need a new TBW(58mm).The crank should be done with both the 110 & 117 build.Your gambling with the 103 if you don't do it!!!

If going to a 103", then may as well bore to 107". Same cost if using Wiesco pistons.
If considering a 110", that requires case boring, then a 117", or 124" is all the same labor, and the power delivery is much more.
Not pushing it at all.
Scott

Depends on how much HP/TQ you think you want/need.

You might want to do a cost comparison between a simple 103 ci upgrade with and ANYTHING larger. Several shops (Headquarters, T-Man Performance, etc. have done all the planning and putting together all the parts so you get the most bang for the buck...so to speak.

You can get a good 100+ HP/TQ 103 upgrade for $2,500 and up depending on your choice of exhaust.

Good luck with your upgrade.

Default You can pay me now,or you can pay me later.

If you want power, your motor may last 30k miles, tops. The bottom end on the newer tc's are crap. You need a timken conversion and crank work.Do yourself a favor and stick with a mild 103 setup............or do it right.
