I have an 2001 Sporty 1200 that I have been riding practically stock since 2008. I love the bike, but I want a little bit more power. I was wondering if there are some decent power upgrades for it or if I should move up to a bigger bike? I am not the biggest dude, however, standing 5'6" 155. It's not the the bigger bike weight I am concerned with as much as my short limbs stretched all the way out.

I am considering either putting in a 1250cc kit and new pipes with rejetting or possibly getting a used dyna that I can eventually modify as well.

I do love this old lady of mine and I still get plenty of people who are surprised that it's an 01. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

 

Only you can decide if another bike is the way to go. If you still have a passionate relationship with your current ride keep her and upgrade away. A lot can be done to a sporty to make her scream.

 

Go test ride a Dyna or two and see if they feel more right to you than your current bike

With enough money you can make either faster or more comfortable for you than the other. I would recommend going with the one that speaks to you more than the other, and not get wrapped up in "needing to move up to a bigger bike" to be happy
