I recently bought a 88 Softail it has S&S jugs and Rivera 4 valves heads. I had it started once for about 20 sec. then died. The problem I have is it don't want to turn over. For what I know so far is that it just might be to much compression. It want to turn over real slow to where it don't turn at all with the starter wires smoking. The cable are the real good one. Battery is new. and so is the starter Solenoid. The starter look like it was change not to sure. And tip what I can do? I hate to go buy a new starter but I just might have to.

 

how dose it crank with the plugs out?

 

It seem to turn over ok have it running for about 20 Sec.

I don't know what cam is in there. I should pull that apart and check it out.
