European bike week at faaker see
I am thinking about going to the European bike week at Faaker See in Austria and I would like to get some advice from anybody who has been there before.
I am going to camp when I get there so I'm looking for any recomendations on campsites, also, do you need to get there early to make sure you get a pitch?
I will be travelling from the UK so any advice on routes would also be
appreciated.
Thanks
Daryl

Daryl,
Went last year and had a blast! Our crew stays here:http://www.campinganderwald.at/en/ Great place with real nice facilities. If they're full up, there's places all around the lake there, just do some research. I'm not sure about arriving without a reservation. I wouldn't recommend it though...there are literally thousands of people.
The route will be totally up to you. In a hurry to get there? Once you get down to the Alps, every route is beautiful.
Good luck with your planning and maybe we'll see ya down there.

I went there last year, and yes it is a blast, if you can get to ride the Glostglokner road, about 18 euros toll but worth the ride up.
Also be careful of the German police on the Autobahns, near the German/Austrian border they stopped me and the wife and had stopped a number of other bikes, they were noise testing, those bikes that failed they removed the exhausts and left the bikes stranded. We passed but others failed, some ended up buying replacement systems.
And Yes you need to book, as early as possible as they fill up.
