Default Visiting London, England

Heading up to the UK for about a week on work. I am going to have some free time and was wondering if any locals or ideas of those familiar wit h the area. I have done the typical touristy things many time before when there, ie Royal PLace, changing of the guard, Princes Diana's former castle, etc.

Any other suggestions? Car or motorcycle related, etc? I don't mind catching the train if I have to. I would even entertain renting a motorcycle and going with the wife for a ride out to the country. Any harley or motorcycle stores in London? Or any Home Depot type stores to check out the tools?

The Tower of London is a blast if you haven't already done that.

Got a 100 pound taxi tour of London one time, the guy took us to all the historic sites and gave a really good commentary the whole way, took about 2 1/2 hours from memory.

Thanks,, not too far from there. I am going Sunday probably

Anyone familiar with ace cafe? A lot of biker things, hangout, etc... Just wondering if it's worth a visit and if a safe neighborhood.

I've not been to the Ace myself, but you'll be fine,it's on one of the main routes through London.
We don't have guns over here, that is apart from criminals

Thanks trev. One more question, with the exchange rate and taxi fares, I am wondering if I can just take the train out to the harley store and to ace or just rent a car for the day.

We are taking the hop on hop off today around town.

Ahh, pubs? Are the pubs down by soho?

Pubs are everywhere on London and the UK in general. Warr's doesn't open on a Sunday at the Kings Road Chelsea site but does at it's Mottingham store out to the south east of London.

Chelsea is an upmarket part of town

The ace is worth a visit but is now commercialised. The War Rooms are also worth a visit if you are into WW2 History as is the imperial war museum which i think has free admission. If you can get out of London head for Duxford and to the memorial to US airman lost in the war.

As an itinerary iconic land marks which are close together are...

Tower bridge, Tower of London and HMS Belfast (warship) are all within a mile or so.

Travel west on the on the underground about 4 miles and you get The houses of Parliament, Westminster Cathedral and a short walk away you have Trafalgar Square and Buckingham palace.

Other places along the way are the Science and Natural History Museums. All within reach on the London Underground, buy a Zone 4 pass and it will get you almost everywhere you want to go. The Ace is not in the centre though I think that's Zone 5.

For Riding you are in the wrong part of the country to get good riding roads. Check out the Harley Web site which shows rental locations.

If you need any more info PM me!
