Default troubleshooting intermittant turn signal

While I have my batwing off to replace the clutch cable, one of my rear turn signals quit working. I've figured out which wire/connector the problem is in. The contacts are the old style round AMP connectors. I think my intermittent problem is more due to tarnish rather than corrosion. Any ideas on how to remove the tarnish, other than cutting and replacing all of the pins? Can't find a Dremel brush small enough to fit inside the female pins. Aerosol LPS contact cleaner from Radio Shack doesn't seem to work.

Replacement is a longer term fix but it sucks to do, Indicators on old bikes are a horrible job when the corrosion gets in there but if you have the time I would recommend running new wires as far back into the loom as you can go. Make them good and long and eliminate any connectors under the fender. Tuck the excess length under the seat.

My Lowrider has the connectors inside the indicator body in case I need to remove them for any reason.

Quite often turn signal problems are caused by a faulty ground.

thanks texashillcountry, that looks a bit more aggressive than either LPS or CRC contact cleaner. I found it it Dallas at Fryes Electronics (and Guitar Center !). Hope it works; one small can cost me 15 bucks. Hopefully will know in a couple hours; fixin' to try it now.

I'm in Keller, between Denton and Ft. Worth. Dallas is maybe 45 minutes east of me. My last trip to Austin was last year when we escorted Chris Kyle to the state cemetery. Is that where you're at?

I'm 6 miles west of Austin.
Right between Austin and Dripping Springs.

I spent a couple years in Lewisville.

I had my Panhead rebuilt in Austin years ago in a small indy shop called HD Salvage. Owner was Gary King. I think he moved, though. Talked to some locals who'd only heard of him, but none knew where he relocated to. He did good work, I could lift the front wheel in 2 outta 4 gears.

if you still haven't fixed that plug here is what I use spray mag wheel cleaner it has a mild acidic base. then use warm water to wash it off. the terminals will look brand new after they are clean and dry use dielectric grease to keep it from happening again. and watch your paint it will eat it if left on it.
