1990 FLSTC Clutch Problem
Hello Everyone, I've been trying to rely on myself more than the dealership for maintenance lately but I am stuck. If anyone could offer any advice I would appreciate it greatly. I have a 1990 heritage. I was riding the other day and my clutch got progressively sloppy. As I was pulling into my garage pulling in the clutch was almost useless as giving throttle would pull my bike forward into the garage even with the lever pulled in. I have done the clutch adjustment procedure per the manual twice. Each time the bike operates fine for about a mile then the clutch gets progressively sloppy and does not want to shift through gears. Also notice a high pitch whine when clutch is pulled in around primary. When I shut down in the garage my cable will have about 1/4" of slack where it had a little less than 1/8" to start. What are your thoughts?

Agree with Texas and Beemervet.
I suggest you first remove the clutch release cover from the right side of the transmission and check the throwout bearing, because that gasket only costs about 2 bucks...
If the throwout bearing looks good, get into the clutch and check the plates and discs.
While you are there, remove the adjuster plate from the clutch and check the torque on the clutch hub retaining nut.
If everything looks good, it could be that the clutch cable is giving up the ghost.
