hyrdrolocked motor from fuel leaking from carb?

i normally always shut the gas off. just forgot last time i rode it.

Yeah, carb float valve needs to be replaced, plus inspect the petcock. If you didn't damage anything with it hydrolocked, you should be OK after an oil change.

And FYI: BE VERY CAREFUL with gasoline spilling out. I ran a burn unit for a month. Do I need to give you details? A few years before I was at the burn unit, a friend of mine died there. He had drained gas out of his bike (a shovelhead) and then put a battery charger on it. Took him a week or so to die.

wow, thats horrible. Had no problems. oil smelled of gas and i changed it. Bike fired right up and just got back from a short ride. Time to rebuild the carb.

What year did HD go to a vacuum operated petcock? Mine has one. Then you don't have to manually shut it off after every ride.

You are gonna want to change it again in a few miles.
Remember there is about a quart or so that remains in the motor when you change the oil.

Glad you got her running again.

It's a few ounces, THC, not a quart.

Yeah you are probably right.
It looks like a quart when I pull off the cam chest and it goes everywhere though!!!

Default Question.

Is the stock carb a CV and does it have a cold start enrichment option like the S&S E series?
