Do you think I could get $4K for it? It's going to have to sit now until it sells or I can justify the cost of repairs.
At 43k you are about 50k from "needing" a top end rebuild.
As long as you aren't smoking or leaking excessively then I wouldn't worry about the top end.
Hell I have seen some go way over 100k if everything is still running normally.

I get that you are getting frustrated with your bike but don't let that frustration get to you so that you make a bad decision.
Step back take a breath have a beer and then decide what you are gonna do.

Doesn't look like this purchase is happening for awhile but I'll start a list and decide what to do later after I have a full list of everything I'll need if I go that option.

I'd like to see this magnetic filter too, do I splice that inline in one of the oil lines?
From what I hear the EV27 is more if you like to ride on the top end of the power band, where as the 3010 is more low end. I can tell you, and so can Throttle Jockey because he has ridden my bike a few times. That cam, the 3010 comes on very low, at around 1800RPM and is good almost to the rev limiter.. I've never ridden a bike with an EV27 but from what people say, I think the EVL3010 is a better choice... it stays on a little longer. You can actually hear it come on; I'm satisfied with my purchase.

As to lifters, no need to spend anymore than you have to. Johnson Hylifts are all you need and can be had for around $135 shipped from parts4powertoys.

This video is pretty representative of the type of power the 3010 can provide... doesn't seem to have an "end" really. I want to ride a bike with an EV27 to compare one day.

Keep in mind this is pretty mild... I have some video of 1st gear pulls up to 5k RPM in each gear but I'm probably not going to share them on the open board...

WOW

I couldn't add to what has been said so I'll just agree with the majority.

Set it aside and search for a good deal on the parts needed.
I tore mine down because it lost a head gasket at 52k. Everything mic'd out fine, set of rings and honed the cylinders.

I'll bet you can come up with a good used cam, seen a good many for sale.
Used lifters ahhh that would be a stretch, new would be better.

Best of luck to ya WP

Called a friend in OK he has a stock EVO cam in good shape. let me know if ya want to go this route. No charge and I'll get him to ship it to ya

Hell for that matter I have my stock cam that has just been sitting in a box.
If you really want it I can send it to you KP but I highly recommend you getting a better cam.
It will work but it is gutless IMO.

I hope he gets a better cam but on the off chance he wants to put it back together and sell the bike, it would be a cheaper fix.

The guy I called I really thought he had a EV27 left over from doing a BIG upgrade not long ago.

While I agree with you that it is a cheaper fix it is still a gutless cam.
He can have mine if he wants it.
I'll even pay shipping in the spirit of Christmas.
