Wink Crane lives on as S&S!

We learned some while ago that S&S had taken over Crane Cams, but S&S has just announced that the Crane name will disappear soon, although many former Crane products such as the HI-4N Ignition kit will live on with S&S branding. Jus' thought y'all would like to know!

Will it mean an increase in quality? Will the Crane cam profiles disappear? Tune in next episode for when Dr Brown says "I haven't got a clue" and Spanners upsets everybody by claiming that adjustable pushrods are for wannabes....

Hahaha. Crane is local to me and now I wonder if they are going to start cutting s&s cams too at the shop. Maybe I can just go there and pick up a product that I need

Is this just for Crane M/C parts or the company as a whole?

Jolly good question.....

Being an S&S customer I get promotional emails, the most recent of which gives this message:

"S&S Cycle is excited to announce that the S&S HI-4N ignition system for 1970-’99 carbureted Harley-Davidson® big twins is in stock and ready to light your fire. If you loved the Crane Cams® HI-4N ignition, you’ll love the S&S HI-4N. Same premium electronics. Same great features. Just a different name.

S&S Cycle is ending it’s relationship with the Crane Cams brand effective midnight December 31st 2014, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t still be able to get the HI-4N ignition module. The HI-4N will be available under the S&S brand, along with many of the most popular products formerly offered in the Crane Cams Motorcycle Products Catalog."

So the answer to your question appears to be yes, however I can't find any more specific info at present.

Default Not happening here

1st ignition module I put in the Lowrider was a Crane. Lasted , maybe 6 months, & then died. Was the end of that relationship & the shade tree indy that sold it to me , who wouldn't back the product up. No big loss. moved on to better ignitions & better indys.

Red face

Had a Crane module on my Evo for many years, until I swapped engines to my S&S - it was fine!

The S&S IST system it came with. It includes all manner of clever stuff, such as anti-knock sensor, running-in limiter (which gradually increases rev limit as running time passes by) etc. The engine came with a 3 year warranty which, needless-to-say, I didn't need!

I thought adjustable pushrods were for people with older bikes like shovelheads and panheads...
