I had a similar situation with my 91 FXSTC. There were green deposits in the carb from fossilized fuel. I bought a rebuild kit and a jet kit and tried it myself. The results were disappointing. Then I sent it to Dale at Killer Motorcycle Products for his rebuild and it worked great. Several other forum members have had good results there too.
Good luck whatever you do.

Default Finally got it

So I convinced myself there was an intake leak, & spent way too much time & frustration replacing the seals. Annnndddd.... nothing. Same problem.

Now my laser sharp mind goes to work.... If it's not too much air, it must be not enough fuel. The main problem is at low speed, there is a low speed jet. Try to keep up here

Sure enough it was clogged solid. Not gunk or varnish, more like solid calcium. Maybe the "fossilized fuel" mentioned above. I had to sharpen the end of a piece of wire to a chisel point & "drill" it out.

Hit the button now & it settles right in to a Crane cam induced Harley idle.

Thanks again all for the help

I must add that Lucas fuel treatment works great at keeping things running smoothly, I add it to anything that runs on fuel.

Just a side-note thought...bike sat for 14 years. You cleaned the carb and got it right, what about the gas tank? Did you pull it and flush it out? There is also a screen in the tank on top of the petcock. Pull it and clean it too.

Resealling the inside of the tank may be a good idea as you would a brand new after market tank,no?
