I have used Castrol 20W50 almost exclusively in my 84 Softail since 1990. I recently began a resurrection project on my scooter that had more than 150,000 miles on it. The only significant wear that I found in the motor was in the rocker arm shafts and they were still within service limits. The cylinder walls still had evidence of the original cross hatch. I am sold on Castrol 20W50. I hope that the product offered now is the same as it was 10 years ago when I stopped riding.

Last time I used Castrol, it foamed up, that's why I don't use it.

Rotella T 15w-40 is what I was using... it's good stuff if you're on a budget. Now I run Valvoline VR1 either 20w-50 or straight 50wt. depending on the season.

Rotella's has a bakery not far from my shop. They make some amazing split-top hard rolls. Excellent stuff.

So, I'd say, go with the split-top hard rolls.

I use Rotella in my primary. Almost went with it in the engine. Decided to try the Napa 15-50 synthetic since it was considerably less cost than M1 15-50 that I have always used.

I run it in the primary. With the stock clutch plates, the shifting is pretty smooth I must say.
