Default Rear Wheel Bearing

Correct me if I'm wrong. The rear wheel bearing on softails from 1986-1999 are 3/4" and go to 1" in 2000. Is that right?

No, a bit more complicated than that. They are 3/4" tapered roller bearings across the range until 2000, when the MoCo swapped over to sealed ball bearings. On some models (the Glides etc) they used 1" ID bearings from the off, but on some others, including the Softails, they used 3/4" ID sealed bearings.

The sealed bearings are larger in OD than the previous tapered bearings, so the rotors and rear pulleys all have a larger central hole in them. The rotors are a different style, which helps tell them apart.

Hope that helps.
