what gauge starter cable?

You only asked about the cable to the starter (pos). You should do the ground to the chassis too (neg). DC, everything grounds through the frame.

I prefer welding cable. Lots of strands and very flexible.

Yeah, I'm going to make a set up & found these on ebay:

Of course you need to buy the crimping tool, but its not that much.
Of course if a couple went in & bought it and shared the cost, you could come out with not spending a whole lot of cash!

Just a heads up that the link above for the cables is for 2/0 cable instead of 2 awg cable. The 2/0 is heavier than the 2 awg. Here's the link for the 2 awg cable.

You're welcome Harold. 2/0 copper is used for 200 amp service entrance cable.
